Interesting, I have a suspicion where some of those campground volunteers are
coming from.
In my military  experience (26 years) our rules were that the backer/spotter was
responsible for the safety of the maneuver. The driver was limited to following
his/her directions and insuring he/she could see the spotter. The boss and I
have a pretty good routine worked out over the years. She spots, I drive. Same
as usual, I do what she tells me to.
