We have been buying "pink foam" for our home bed and will use it for
replacement mattresses in the airstream too. Go to an upholstery supply and
get it cut to fit. It should be towards the firmer and more expensive end
of their foam options (though still a bargain). I love sleeping on it. Ours
sits on slats, without springs.
