[A/S] Air Conditioners and Awnings...your thoughts?

I'm looking for suggestions or experiences related to the subject
items. I have a 1960 26 foot Overlander (in various stages of
repair/renovation). I would like to add AC to the unit since I do a
fair amount of Desert and Southern CA camping. I have been looking
at the various brands that are available. Each has their own
desirable options however I keep coming back to the DuoTherm Low
Profile Penguin. Does anyone have any good, bad, or indifferent
experience with this model? I like the low profile aspect as it
doesn't detract from the lines of my Airstream, but it is heavier
than others and about a quarter more expensive than the Coleman's
or Carrier. The new Carrier unit has a number of nice features and
is lighter but seems be a little "tall" for the roof of an
Airstream.
Has anyone installed the Carrier unit and found it to be a good
choice? Also, are their any specific concerns that I should be aware
of when adding this type of system to a vintage model?

On to awnings….. In following the message threads on this group
it seems like most folks and new Airstreamers prefer the ZipDee
awnings. My impression is that they appear more "original" when it
comes to our vintage models and they seem to hold up well. Does
anyone have any suggestions for other brands and also any comments on
the price points? I've seen some of the various hardware packages
for A&E but they seem to only cover "67" Airstreams and newer. Have
any of you purchased an A&E or brand other than the ZipDee for a 1960
vintage unit?

Thanks for your thoughts in advance.
