You're right, the 1500 'Burb uses the THM 700R4. Although not a 'bad' unit
(especially after a few years in production), it's not the heaviest-duty
outfit around. If you have one of them, don't ever tow in O.D.; the
hydraulic pressure is lowered on light-throttle operation and the clutches
could slip under load. Several List Members have reported learning that
lesson at great personal expense.
I think that the 2500 'Burb uses a THM 400, which is quite a lot different
and heavier-duty. Although I'm not positive, I think that towing in O.D. is
OK with the 400.
