[A/S] Younger Members

We will be starting the process of joining the WBCCI and VAC today.  
While we are relatively young (you make the call: 
www.kingmanarizona.net ), we also have very young children to think 
of when traveling.  We have gone on camping trips with them since 
getting our '65 Overlander some months ago.  We have had a great 
time, and Jennifer and I have discussed how much fun it will be to 
attend rallys as the kids get older.  However...
Since we live near the edge of the earth (you can actually see it 
from our back yard) in Arizona, all rallys are a pretty far drive for 
us.  Again, with small children, many times it will be impossible for 
us to attend.
I feel from discussions that many young people and families would 
like to attend rallys, but work, and families, are different now than 
30, 40, and 50 years ago.  Our jobs are nothing like the jobs of our 
parents. Jennifer and I are both products of families with 'stay at 
home' moms.  What was then the 'norm' is now a luxury that few 
couples can afford.  Therefore, with both mother and father working, 
there are two jobs to take into account when planning 'down time' for 
longer trips!
I don't think that young people are less social.  I do agree that the 
way we interact has changed drastically.  This group is a good 
example of that change.
I love this group, and the Airstream community!  I have gotten 
invaluable help with my project from Phil, Jim D, Nick Novia, and 
others.  I hope to continue with this group and to see all of you 
eventually at a rally!
