Just my two cents here on this thread..

First of all..there will always be a market for high end products, especially
in a boom economy like we've( I actually don't mean me <g>) been having here
in the USA.

The price of Airstreams won't scare away folks who really want them, for practicality,
or vanity!

One thing..maybe the economy is slowing, and this is a sign that we're on top
of? The buyers may not be there all of a sudden.  Just remember, all the other
brands will have to do the same too.

An interesting comment from a Airstream dealer employee, I won't mention which
one..but..as I have been calling many, many dealers for old vintage parts..I
have  had little success.

A comment was made that the 60's parts, and we all know who has most of them,
are getting tougher to find.

This person had this to say "now..even the 70's parts are getting hard to find,
and soon, they will all be gone."

I think she meant to say that AS would sell off all their excess 70's parts,
like they did the 60's!!!

She also said, and I found this very interesting, even though it could be hearsay,
"How can Airstream make any money when their products last so long?"

So..I don't know if she was "in the know" but it may prove prophetic.

When I hear of AS's from the 90's already needing new paint..well..that's not
saying too much for high quality.  I know there was a flap about the wrong type
of finish being applied, but this type of thing might happen from cost cutting
too.

Personally, I think the new rigs are absolutely beautiful..but I don't think
there is a place for "carpeting" in camping, at least what I call camping!!


The new RV's, AS and all the rest, are made to simulate a home type atmospere.
 That's real nice.

My '68, and lots like it, is a camper that doesn't "fool" you into thinking
it's anything else!!  The inside looks, feels, and IS a camper!  Dirt, grass,
bugs...know what I mean?
