Re: [A/S] Name plate restoration
I repainted some of the "blue' on my trailer this summer. What the A/S
dealer suggested was Ford Tractor Blue. It must be pretty close to the
color, because the officials at the last rendevous didn't come over and
say anything about the color.<grin> It is pretty close to the color of
the bumper strip material too. It is easily available at your friendly
neighbourhood farm supply. The smallest quantity I could get was a
quart. They do have it in spray bombs too.
Also I found that it was thinned somehow so that it flowed into all the
little crevices in the paint field really well and didn't leave ridges
when brushed on. I masked with green painters masking tape, cut the tape
back to mask the areas I didn't want paint on and proceeded to paint. I
took the masking tape off when the paint was tacky, as when it dries, it
pulls off the paint that is under it and that sometimes rips out part of
the area you want it to stay on. Any that spilled over was easily
removed with a blunt knife.
