Re: [A/S] Electric Brakes & Controllers

Gerald,
You'll probably find that the adjustment is about the same either way.

It takes a bit of "feel" to get it right; some books will tell you to
back it off until there is "no" drag. I've found that there will almost
always be just a tiny bit of drag. There will always be a slight rubbing
noise with electric brakes because the magnet is rubbing lightly on the
armature, held there by that light spring.

But: as long as the brakes are adjusted 'close to right', they should be
OK. It's the same as hydraulic brakes, the acutators (electric or
hydraulic) make up for imperfect adjustments.

It's important to not judge the braking action based on the first couple
of stops, especially if the drums and armature faces have a bit of rust.
Things will be quite different once the rust is polished off and the
brakes warm after a few stops.
