Thanks Scott, as always you're a great help. I'll print your reply 
and refer to it. Don't suppose you have those old brake controllers 
laying around your garage. I know I should have gone with the 
extended cab truck as you originally suggested, but I've always been 
a sucker for Buicks. I was toying the idea of towing with my '72 
Skylark GS but your comments regarding weight and wheelbase made me 
decide to consider more appropriate vehicles.  Anybody out there want 
a good deal on an excellent 72 Skylark? Tow a bambi maybe? Can't wait 
to post my pics of restored shined up airstream on the beach in 
Galveston pulled by the Buick convertible. Mike
