Rims should be inspected for rust and construction if they are two or
three piece rims, many shops won't work on them. Some varieties of such
rims have been known to come apart while the tire is being inflated and
sometimes the moving pieces have removed chunks of the person doing the
inflation (head, arm, hand, etc). They are not considered safe today.
Some have been known to come apart while on the vehicle going down the
road.

Wheels need to be rated for the load, just like the tires. In many
Airstreams, there is no room to go to a larger or fatter tire so most
choose to stay with the original size, even though it can be harder to
find than some fatter radial tire.

Kelly-Springfield seems to carry more trailer rated tires than some
other makers.

Go to Jim Dunmyer's web page for solar information and references. Don't
plan on PV powered air conditioning.

Sounds to me as if you need to start with boat resin and build a new tub
over the old one.
