Re: [A/S] Re: [AirstreamList] Hunter &the No. Colorado Route

Hunter,

If you want to stay mostly off of the interstates, you can take US 50 through Colorado past Gunnison, and then just before Salida, you can take 285 up to Denver.  This is the route I traveled through Colorado this summer, en route from Denver to Crested Butte, and then on to Sacramento.  The roads are good.  Monarch pass is there, but you won't have any trouble.  285 is a little twisty in parts, but nothing you can't handle, unless you are in a hurry, and then you can get frustrated because passing can be a problem on the two lane.
Denver traffic is horrible, including 470 during rush hours.  Unfortunately Denver has had a lot of growth in recent years, and the highway system has not kept up with the growth of the city.
