If you do take US50, there are several stops that may be of interest.
Lehman Caves Nat'l Monument on the Eastern edge of Nevada is worth a 1/2 day
and if you do swing North to Colorado Springs, I recommend the PRCA Rodeo
Hall of Fame and Museum.  It's right alongside I-25 on the NW side of the
city.  Then, there's the Air Force Academy, just a few miles (4 or 5)
further North.  All are worth one's time.
