US 50 is another one of the old two-lane roads that were so great before
Eisenhower and the interstates. If you're interested in the trip across

way, I think "Road Trip USA" is one of the great reads of all time - both
while you're actually on the road or sitting at home fantasizing about
traveling. It's right up there with Kerouac's "On The Road" and William Heat
Least-Moon's "Blue Highways" (which unfortunately is out of print). To find
