[A/S] Corroded door handle 74 International

I uploaded a picture of my 74 International door handle. She is very
corroded. Any suggestions, short of finding a replacement. Can such
things be "re-chromed"? I'm not even sure that the covering is
chrome,
it may be brushed aluminum.
Secondly, is the door handle hard to remove? Certainly there is
nothing on the outside that would seem like you could unrivet or
unscrew. Must be under that nice cover on the inside of the door.
Anyone been there and done that?
