How about taking 101 South and then going west at
Willits.  The drive from Willits to the coast is short
and not too bad.  The town of Mendocino is just north
when you get to the coast.  That is where "Murder She
Wrote" was filmed.  Mendocino is a small town on the
coast, very touristy now with hard to find parking,
but there are some good beaches in the area and nice
drive going south along the coast.  We were there a
few weeks ago.  The road from Willits to the coast is
better and shorter than the one from Cloverdale to the
coast. Carol
