Hunter, I think you will see the best part of the coast by taking 101.  I 
just looked on the Atlas and I was wrong about Patrick's Point - it is North 
(not south) of Eureka(!).  I see that Hwy 1 and 101 separate (or actually 1 
starts) around Leggett which is south of Garberville.  Sooo, you get the best 
of the No Calif coast without having to drive on twisting Hwy 1, esp. if you 
stop at Patrick's point (or thereabouts) &/or Trinidad.

BTW, you wouldn't catch me on Hwy 1 with a trailer. <g>
