[a/s] Airstream in the media

Hi fellow 'streamers - I haven't posted for a while now. We were away in
Southern B.C. (read BBiggg mountains, roads with serious grades) for a
month. Had a wonderful holiday, our trailer showed its mettle (metal) to my
husband, who had never had it across the Rockies before - he was impressed.

We also saw many airstreams - a feast for the eyes, for a Canuck who hardly
sees any!

Since returning, I thought I'd check in and report on a book I finished
reading last night. I'm pretty sure it was mentioned on this forum last
year, but in case you haven't read it yet - here goes:

Airstream - The History of the Land Yacht
by Bryan Burkhart and David Hunt

The book is worthy of one's coffee table - lots of fascinating B/W pictures
that capture Wally's sense of adventure and style as he developed his
beloved "silver sausage". Some of the pictures of old Airstream advertising
twigged me back to the sixties, where I remember seeing them with my dad
(the famous A/S pulled by the bicycle). Also loved the photos of his
various treks through Africa, India, Europe, etc.

For vintage fans (like me), there are floor plans and some truly gorgeous
trailers on display. I would highly recommend that you beg, borrow or buy
this book - it's rich in airstream lore.

Finally, I saw the movie "Space Cowboys" the other night (Clint Eastwood,
James Garner, etc.). So reassuring to see the "Cowboys" driven to their
space shuttle in - what else? - an Airstream.

Fond regards to my fellow airstreamers,
