I found the website and its has really good information and I think all
trailer-pullers should read it. I know I had a hundred questions, well
fifty for sure, about hitches, pulling, weights, etc... while we were
looking for a trailer. If your buying from a dealer you can go with
their recommendations and feel safe about pulling out of their lot, but
if your buying from a private party your on your own and have no place
to really go unless your lucky and find a hitch dealer who is willing to
take the time to show you what is out there for you to choose from. I
didnt have that luxury I had to go with what I read, past experience
(very little), and what info I could get from people in the business.
Thankfully the previous owner I bought from is a WBCCI member and has
had several trailers and years of experience, he answered my questions
and showed me anything I wanted to know about the hitch set-up (reese)
and towing before we pulled away with our new trailer. I think it would
be a good idea if the local clubs of the WBCCI gave a class in towing,
hitches, weights, pulling, etc. to new owners and it wouldnt hurt as a
refresher to others or perhaps their already are courses available?
