I can attest to this, they used scaffolding when they installed my satellite 
dish.

That said, the Airstream dealer who installed my fantastic fan did use a 
ladder.  The part that hit the tailer was wrapped in cotton and taped.   They 
rested against the awning, not the body of the trailer.

I just got my new skylight and air conditioner cover... to install them I 
will use a ladder against the awning, with fabric (towels?) between the two.  
Not that scratching up my trailer would really matter at this point )c:
