RE: [a/s] Climbing on the roof?

Norma,
Alaska, wow, greetings from Maine. Yesterday we saw a van with Alaska plates on it and
started up a conversation about where they were from. Kodiak - is that near you?
On the subject of the roof - I use either a step ladder or if not practical it's the
extension ladder with a towel around where it meets the body. I try to use the areas around
the door or windows due to the rigid rain gutter bar. Also look for the rivets - they tell
you that there is a body brace in that area. The angle of the ladder would make a
difference as well - the straighter up the ladder rests against the trailer the less
pressure on the trailer body.

Can you tell me about the condition of roads in Alaska? We are coming to Alaska next
summer, we hope and probably with an A/S caravan. We have heard both ends of the scare
stoies on the gravel road conditions - bring spare tires. Some say cover your headlights
with stiff screen protectors, some go so far as to say buy or rent a used RV to take to
Alaska so as not to ruin your 'home' but seems a bit farfetched to me...
