One other consideration is that when you install a steel screw or bolt into
aluminum you have two dissimilar metals in contact.  In the presence of water
and a bit of salt that creates a galvanic cell and the aluminum will be eaten
away.  Road dust always contains a bit of salt (or other electrolytes, same
effect).

In a dry climate this is perhaps not a problem over the lifetime of an Airstream
trailer.  In a humid climate, and especially where they put salt on the roads in
winter to melt snow, it might be a different matter.
