I'd be very wary of putting any "pipe system cleaner" into an RV holding tank
system, unless it were specifically formulated for that use.  You do *not* want
to bugger up the seals on the slide valves, etc., in the system.

I do believe ice cubes would help (as long as they don't crack the tank) by
mechanically abrading the piles.  And/or use a good enzyme digester, fill the
tank half full with water, drive around for a good while to shake things up, let
sit a few days, drive around again, etc., maybe repeat a few times, then hit it
with the wand.  Once it is clean, never EVER dump it until it is at least 2/3
full.  The point is, you need to flush the solids out, and that takes a certain
"head" of water.  When camped at a campground (or wherever) you can leave the
gray water valve open, if you have a gray water tank, but never leave the black
water valve open.  If you do, the water will drain away, and the solids will
form, er, piles.  There has to be some liquid in the tank for the chemicals to
work, and *plenty* of liquid to make sure no solids remain behind when dumping.
