[a/s] CEANUP Black Tank/Piles was Black/Gray Water Question

I don't know if you've heard this before but an old timer said they buy
a load of bagged ice and fill up the near empty toilet black tank with
it while on the road and the vibration shuffles the ice around and helps
clean up the tank.  They said to repeat until clean.
Haven't needed to try it yet, but it sounds like a relatively clean
method of clearing up the problem.
I've thought that one of those non corrosive pipe system cleaners that
are "organic" might work on the sludge too.
