Re: [a/s]Hailstorm

Here is a theory that was advanced after the last Bismarck rally. It was
published the the Blue Beret and went something like this. We all know that golf
balls have dimples, in fact the more the better. The reasons are for distance and
accuracy, obviously a function of wind resistance. The lower the resistance the
greater the distance the ball will go. The dimples also improve the stability and
thus the accuracy. If you apply the reverse of this theory, than dimples on an
Airstream should lower the wind resistance and reduce the affect of cross winds.
So, it should tow smoother and get better gas mileage, right?
Anyway, it was just a theory.
Back to reality. There are two things that actually will reduce the dimples. One,
is sunlight. A hot bright day will cause the metal to expand and push out some
dimples. The second is to apply, not ice cubes, but dry ice to the dimple. The
sudden change in temperature will cause the metal to draw up further pulling out
a dimple. These I've seen work.
