Re: [a/s] 1970s Airstreams

I am having a hard time deciding whether to sell the unit we have and get
another one, maybe a little newer, and a little bigger. Then you guys start
all this discussion about the quality of theunits and here I am holding a
1966. 26 footer.
The only discouraging thing to me is there is so little time for me to work
on stuff as a working girl ;0
and my dear husband just doesnt' have much time, either. The floor in the
bathroom needs to be redone -- previous owner must've had a flood, I am
guessing because it was sold to us by their heirs. They also replaced the
toilet which I am guessing was the culprit. But I would replace THAT toilet
now. It just is a funny size or something and the freshwater intake is
leaking. We flush it with a big container of water and keep the water supply
to it off. Am wondering after following/lurking on all the conversation if
replacing the lines with the pex ? might cure this problem.
Also, the hot H20 heater needs to be replaced; it was the original so I guess
it's time. The fridge needs to be replaced, but I am having trouble finding
one that will fit. And plus, the inside of the frige itself is so darn cute
I hate to take it out. It has all those neat colored racks in the door; not a
one of them is broken. I would also replace some flooring in front of the
door (typical oregon weather, I would guess) -- it has been 25+years in the
valley here. Probably a piece in front of the sink, too.
So there you go. Any ideas? Should I just sell it as-is which is still
pretty darn good compared to others I looked at before buying this one or fix
it up and keep it? I love looking at it. I love the inside ; all the things
are original and in good shape, even the upholstery and the curtains, except
a few stains. Even with the various problems it makes me sad to think of
parting with it; but will my efforts at repairs only make things worse? and
should I sell it to someone who is a pro and buy one that doesn't need
anything?
Man I need a margarita.
