Not necessarily a one ton... my 3/4 ton (F-250 w/ PSD) is rated to tow 13,000 
plus pounds.

I see people towing the 34' trailers with 1/2 ton Suburbans.  I asked one 
person how it did out west.  They admitted they were climbing a few mountains 
and had to turn around because they couldn't make it to the top with the 350 
engine.  Turning a 34 foot trailer around on a mountain road must have been 
quite a feat.
