I have the Vortec 6000 engine with 4:10 rear end and the max towing package on
the truck. That puts the max trailer towing weight at 11,200 lbs. It has done a
good job with the 34' Limited in the level country our towing has been limited
to thus far. I am booked on the Alaska caravan next year, so should get to see
if it will handle the mountains. I have a trip to Maine planned in October,
2000, which will give ma a good indication of how well it will handle the hills.

Of note, I have been getting an average of 10 MPG towing. This started out at 9
MPG and has moved to 11 for the 5 tanks of gas used while towing. I started out
at 15.3 MPG on the first tank running solo and got 16.8 MPG on the last tank on
a trip to the mountains of NC on a fly fishing trip last week. I now have 4500
miles on the second engine, original engine was replaced at 1500 miles because
of low oil pressure. Good oil pressure now and running strong.
