Mongo, I have the same problem with my lock. If you REALLY want to replace it they are still available for 72 thru 78's for a mere $549 from A/S!! The new ones are no longer plated pot metal but are all aluminum. I'm liking my old one with the peeling chrome better all the time! Bruce
