Well this is the story...The awning I had put on 6
years ago, says "Carefree of Colorado" on it. I don't
know what kind of hardware I have, Silver Streak
included 4 different brands in the owner's manual. I
assume it either a "Carter" or "Carefree". It does
wrap around the roller bar, and screws hold it on,
sort of like rivets. It is attached to the trailer
body in a slot, and they had about three men or so
slide it in. That is the only thing holding it on the
trailer. I thought Zip Dee and Carefree supplied
fabric as well as hardwear. There seems to be a lot of
extra labor involved in this type of awning, and I am
not happy about that. Seems to me when it was
originally ordered, it came in with an end that slid
into a slot on the roller. They tried to put it on and
realized my roller isn't slotted. So it had to be
re-sewn to wrap around the roller bar, that is when
they ended up making it too short, and had to sew in a
patch..a total disaster. I should have made them
re-order it.
So I wonder can I just get fabric from a company like
Zip Dee or do I have to replace the hardware too?
I don't know why they ordered the Carefree, could it
be the made a mistake on the brand of hardware too?? I
never thought about that....What a mess!!
