Problem with the Univolt, is that it doesn't charge in stages, nor at the
voltages required for "modern" batteries. While it certainly won't
overcharge, neither will it bring them to 100% in a reasonable time, if
ever. That is especially troublesome with gel cells and glass mat batteries.
As long as you are using the traditional acid filled batteries and check
their specific gravity every two weeks or so, it is probably ok. If you are
going to do much camping at all without a 110V hook-up, it might be prudent
to change to a more modern system and treat yourself to some top quality
deep cycle batteries.
