One quick point you might look at because of excessive noise from the
fan in your furnace is dirt-dobbers. I live in NW Alabama and have been
seeing then flying around looking for a nesting spot for six weeks now.
If they get in (and they will without a screen guard) and build a nest
on your blower it will make quite a noise because of imbalance upon
startup and wear out the bearings on minutes.Hope this helps,
