Bill. We have a 1977 31' Excella. I would suggest the Surrette deep cycle
batteries. Although I do not have any direct experience with them, they come
highly recommended by friends. My home is powered by wind and solar energy.
I depend on good battery performance. The Surrettes' are used by many "off
the grid" renewable home power systems.

Regarding your inverter, it is probably a "square wave or modified sine
wave" inverter. If it is doing the job and running the things you need to
power with it, I don't see any reason to replace it. The newer inverters are
much more efficient. We power our Airstream with solar and efficiency is a
high concern of ours because we often go "boondocking" Joe and Joan from
