FWIW I did that a few years ago in the 28 foot Argosy motorhome ... no problem,
breathtaking views, a nice night in a state campground in Big Sur where we were
nearly the only campers, waking up to a flock of Steller's jays in the morning
... looking down on the elephant seals which now breed on the mainland as well
as on the islands ... there were a few slides and washouts (it was right after
big rains) but not enough to stop us, I'd do it again at the first opportunity. 
Wouldn't think it a problem with a TT either unless it was HUGE.  We stayed on
CA1 from Monterey till it flattens out and you are driving right along the beach
... still with elephant seals, quite amazing when you get out and walk up to one
... they are enormous ... and not the least interested in a mere human gawping
at them ...
