Another great service for picking up messages on the road are the Internet virtual voice-mail and fax systems. The two major players seem to be eFax and jFax. Both offer voice mail and fax services.

You can choose what city you want your phone number in (even other countries). People call your number and can send a fax or leave a voice main. The fax/voice mail is then forwarded to your email. It is great for picking up messages on the road. They even have a free service if you don't care what your numbers area code is.
We used this when getting our company off the ground -- it gave us local phone numbers across the country.
