Re: [VACList] '73 Dinette

Bobby, it isn't a real sofa. I built it completely from scratch. First
there is basically a short table, legs and stiffening of 1x3, luan for
the top. It is curved to fit snug under the windows. Then I build two
endtables of the same materials, very light. They are shaped to fill in
to the wall on the squared ends of the "table." The seat cushion is a
foam futon that I cut open and trimmed to fit the curve. It is a
standard single bed size. The back cushion are from an extinct
sectional sofa. It doesn't unfold, it just sits there and I sit on it.
never used it for a bed, but should be comfy for one person.

I have sat on the origonal gaucho sofas that fold down and out and make
a bed, and I don't think they are comfortable at all, and have heard
even worse things about sleeping on them. That's why I didn't go
looking for one to replace it.

Somewhere in the archives, there are directions on how the bed
extender-folder-downer stuff works , and maybe even plans.

Good luck, Daisy
