FWIW, I heard 409's weren't all that strong, and bent pushrods like
pretzles. Better bet would be a new (used) Impalla SS. Cool car, very strong
corvette engine, not terribly expensive, and you get fuel injection, disk
brakes, and all the modern conveniences. Or an caprice highway patrol car,
which is essentially the same thing. They go cheap at state auctions, and
have been meticulously maintained.
