This has been discussed before, and the answer is that it's entirely
practical.  The only drawback is the short runtime (3 hrs or so) on one
tank of fuel, but it's a good way to recharge your battery while dry
camping.  Barring solar panels, of course.

It will also give you 120 VAC for other uses as needed.

I have 1 KW and 3KW Hondas, and find that the smaller one is used more
than the other.  Both are very quiet.
