I have a Tekonsha and it works for me but I have limited experience with 
other brands.  I have used the manual slide on the unit if I needed more 
stopping than I was getting with the brake pedal and that seems to be 
acceptable for emergency use. I think perhaps the Teknosha is good for the 
smaller trailers such as the Globetrotter.
