Gerald,
 I had one of the time-based controllers on my other truck and it worked
"OK", after a fashion. The most annoying thing was the excessive trailer
braking that you get when riding the brakes at very slow speeds, IE: in
heavy traffic in town or while driving around a campground to your site.
As you say, you have to release the brake to restart the ramp.

I like the Tekonsha better.
