[VAC] Re: Statpower

Gell cells should never be charged with a voltage above 14.3 volts they are
very vulnerable to overcharging and require a different charge cycle than
flooded types. Flooded batteries are equalized at 15.5 volts which mixes the
electrolyte and equalizes the individual battery cells. Some manufacturers
do recommend some equalization for gel and AGM batteries, (one or two times
a year) but at very different voltage end current levels. This requires a
very different charger cycle and a charger that is designed to do all three
and allows you to switch to the proper cycle. Of course you can ignore all
of this stuff and just use the good old univolt which will lead to shortened
battery life and lots of water for the flooded batteries.
