RE: [A/S] Re: Yamaha Generator

There is a difference in running and starting an AC. If the AC startup is
quick enough, which is dictated by the environmental factors as well as
voltage, a smaller genset may actually ride it out without throwing the
circuit breaker, BUT, it will overload the engine for that brief period and
the voltage will dip. Any voltage below 103.5 causes excess current draw and
heating in the compressor. The damage is cumulative and failure is
typically somewhat down the road, but the damage is done. Occasional
exposure to low startup voltage is not that big a deal, but routinely
subjecting an AC to such is another matter. Skimping on the genset is
trading one evil for another down the road.

If the weight of the Yamaha 30iSEB is the concern, then buy two of the Honda
EU2000i models or two of the Yamaha 2800 models which are easier to lug
around but lack electric start and have small fuel tanks (if you are running
gasoline). Running on propane is THE way to go.
