Mary,

A typical rule of thumb is that an inverter will draw 10A of DC for 
every amp of AC it puts out. Using Jim's example 1750 watts 
(1750w/120v)= 14.58A X 10 = 145.8AH to operate the coffee maker alone 
for 1 hour. Practically that would be about a 47 amp drawdown on the DC 
batteries.
