Most of those are rated for well below 15 amps (usually around 8 amps), and I 
would want to depend on them for much more- they really are not designed to 
carry much more than a few amps.

The wiring *to* the outlet will likely carry 15 amps no problem, though.

If *I* needed a 15 amp 12 volt outlet, I would install an Anderson Power Pole 
connector-

versions, they are not expensive, and they will handle the current.
