The Reason for the Trap is to provide for a bit of water to remain in it
to block sewer gases coming back up the line. Alternatively, you need
to use it regularly for this to have effect, since the water will
evaporate eventually.
I have a similar setup, Not finished yet, and I don't plan on adding a
trap, just a Screw on cover at the trailer connection. But it shouldn't
hurt things either. If I do add in a Trap, it will be in the basement
connection where I can get at it easily (or cut out if needed) :c)
I would say if he's there and wants to add it, to go head. One thing
you should definitely do is think about a clean out if the pipe takes
very many turns anywhere along it's route.
