Yes. This is a no-no. (You,re sure this is a splitter and not a remote 
controlled switch? If it is a splitter, it should say so on the splitter 
case.)

It appears that it IS a splitter.  It was installed by Dish Network (has 
their logo on the side) - since then we have switched to DirectTV.  The name on 
the side is TruSpec Signal Combiner.  There are three cables attached - Antenna 
In, Channel 3 In, and To TV set.  The coax from the combiner to the TV set 
goes to a splitter.  One that comes off is to cable and the other to the dish.

What is the "F" connector?  The satellite was still connected, the outside 
cable and antenna was disconnected.

Yes, it sounds kooky, but guess what!  When we did that, the noise stopped! 
What does that mean?

Wouldn't it be easier if you just came over here?
