Hi Chris,
I have put over 75,000 miles with two sets of Good Year tires on my 34'
Limited Airstream. I have had very little problems with tires during that
time. I think part of the good mileage can be attributed to keeping the air
pressure at between 55 and 65 PSI all the time. I installed the SmarTTire
System to monitor the pressure and temperature of my tires with the first
set of Good Year tires I installed. I find I need to add air to the tires at
least every 45 to 60 days in order to keep the alarm from going off in the
morning when the tires are cold. I find this is about twice as often as the
tires on the truck need air added. I don't know if the rims have minute
leaks or what, but the air goes some place. I carry a small air compressor,
and air up all the tires when the first tire trips the "warning light" on
the monitoring system. I have this set at 5 PSI below the desired pressure
in the tires. I have had two flats during the life of my 1998 trailer (I
purchased it in 2000) from "road hazards" - one nail and one gate latch part
from a parking lot gate that had rusted off the gate and fallen into the
drive way. I can't imagine much better results than what I have gotten with
my Good Year tires. I did demand the two sets have production dates less
than 3 months old before I would purchase the tires. My local dealer was
able to get both sets (6 tires per set) that met that criteria.
