RE: [A/S] RE: Towing a 30' - 31' Airstream Classic
<Our only question is how much of a drop receiver are we going to need in
order to tow an Airstream? The 30' Classic we're thinking about has a hitch
ball height of 18-3/4". We don't yet know what the height of the receiver
hitch is on the truck (and, unfortunately, the truck brochures don't list
this information), but I would imagine it's a bit higher than 18-3/4".>
I went through the receiver measurement arena last year when I purchased my
'86 25' Sovereign with Hensley Arrow hitch. My 2500hd measured 18 1/2" from
ground to lower inside edge of the receiver opening and about 20 1/2" from
ground to top inside edge of receiver. The PO had a Ford F250 and his
measurements were 16 7/16" from ground to inside lower edge and 18 1/2" from
ground to inside top edge. I would image that the Chevy 3500 and Ford 350
would be just a tad higher than this but someone with a one ton should be
posting soon.
