I don't tow with a Suburban but do with a 2500hd, 8.1 litre engine, Allison 
transmission and 3.73 rear.  I get 9 mpg with hills and up to 12 on straight 
highway.  I get 10 mpg in the city with AC on and routinely get 14.6-14.9 
mpg on the highway at 70 mpg without AC.  I break 15 every once in a while.  
I realize the Suburban does not have the 5 speed Allison auto trans but 
highway mileage shouldn't be that much below my values with the 4 sp. auto 
trans.
