Ron,

I tow a 29ft Excella (6800lbs) with a 5.6L Nissan Titan, towing mileage
varies 9-12mpg, mixed town/freeway 14-15mpg. I would expect a big block
chevy to get less and you have a larger load
but it is an excellent choice. Diesel prices remain higher than premium gas
here in Texas making the
extra cost of a diesel hard to justify imo even if they get slightly better
mileage towing. When I changed from a Dodge/Cummins to the gas Nissan I had
about a 2mpg penalty with the gas engine.
