     I have towed with about every category of tow vehicle over the course of 35 years.  
Each tow vehicle I bought was always longer, heavier and more powerful than the last one 
as I kept looking for that extra measure of safety and stability.  Now I have a 3/4 ton 
long bed quad cab 4X4 pickup with a V-10 engine and finally I can tow through crosswinds, 
truck wash, and down hill curves without a death grip on the wheel and that vague feeling 
that comes from feeling that you are not in full control of the TOTAL rig.  If you want 
don't like pick-ups, and prefer an SUV go for a 3/4 ton Suburban or an Excursion, they 
have the longest wheel bases and most heft of the SUVs.  If you like vans a 3/4 ton van 
conversion can also be a fine tow vehicle.  Tow vehicles are one case where super-sizing 
is the healthy choice off the menue.
